Student Village was constructed in 1969 and opened for occupancy in Fall 1970. Located on the northeast corner of the block between Brainard and Loomis Streets, it boasted large rooms and kitchenettes, and was a highly desirable dorm assignment for many years. It was originally to have been a complex of five buildings, but only three were constructed.

Amy Ory, "Student Village is More than Just a Dorm," The North Central College Chronicle, October 18, 1996, page 5

During the 1990s, the student population at North Central College exploded. While Schneller Hall helped alleviate some of the overcrowding, North Central had to resort to other creative solutions to house students, including turning Student Village lounges into student rooms. As new residence halls came online during the 2000s and 2010s, Student Village became a less desirable dorm assignment.
